6-Week Trauma Recovery Program (PTSD Support)

Format: 1 session per week (half-day, 3–3.5 hours) over 6 weeks

A structured, trauma-informed program designed to support individuals experiencing symptoms associated with PTSD. This program integrates psychological education, nervous system regulation, and gentle, body-based practices to support recovery, reconnection, and resilience over time.

All sessions are facilitated by Lia, our Registered Psychologist, Camille, our Trained Poly-Vagal Coach and Amy, our Trauma-Informed Yoga & Meditation Instructor, ensuring both clinical integrity and practical relevance.

Program Overview

This 6-week series is designed to:

  • Build understanding of trauma and its impact

  • Develop practical nervous system regulation skills

  • Support reconnection with the body in a safe, gradual way

  • Reduce symptoms such as hyperarousal, shutdown, and emotional overwhelm

  • Strengthen long-term coping and recovery pathways

Each session combines education, discussion, movement, and guided meditation, with a strong emphasis on choice, safety, and pacing.

Weekly Structure (Half-Day Format)

Each session follows a consistent, predictable structure to support safety and familiarity:

  • Welcome & check-in

  • Gentle grounding or movement practice

  • Psychoeducation session (led by psychologist)

  • Break

  • Applied nervous system regulation practices

  • Guided meditation / integration

  • Reflection & close

Weekly Themes

Week 1: Understanding Trauma & Safety

  • What PTSD is and how trauma impacts the brain and body

  • Establishing safety, choice, and personal boundaries

  • Introductory grounding practices

Week 2: The Nervous System & Survival Responses

  • Fight, flight, freeze, and shutdown responses

  • Recognising personal patterns

  • Gentle regulation techniques to stabilise activation

Week 3: Building Regulation Skills

  • Practical tools to manage overwhelm and anxiety

  • Breathwork and body-based regulation

  • Developing a personal “toolkit” for daily use

Week 4: Reconnecting with the Body

  • Understanding disconnection and avoidance

  • Trauma-informed yoga for safe embodiment

  • Moving at your own pace with choice and control

Week 5: Managing Triggers & Emotional Responses

  • Identifying triggers and early warning signs

  • Strategies to respond rather than react

  • Strengthening emotional regulation capacity

Week 6: Integration, Resilience & Moving Forward

  • Consolidating skills and insights

  • Building sustainable wellbeing practices

  • Creating a personalised ongoing support plan

This program is designed as a supportive, skills-based intervention and does not replace individual therapy. Participants with complex needs may be encouraged to engage in additional one-on-one psychological support alongside the program.
